A significant number of aspirants were left frustrated and angry after the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) abruptly cancelled the SSC Multi‑Tasking Staff (MTS) Examination 2025 in parts of the country when the test was already underway. Candidates criticised the last‑minute cancellations and urged the commission to take corrective action.
SSC Cancels MTS Exam in Multiple Regions
The SSC announced that the MTS 2025 exam, which is conducted for recruitment to 7,948 vacancies in MTS and Havaldar posts, was cancelled in at least eight states and two Union Territories due to mismanagement and logistical issues. These regions include Karnataka, Odisha, Sikkim, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Affected candidates were informed that the cancelled shifts will be rescheduled and fresh admit cards will be issued ahead of the new dates. However, the lack of prior notice and last‑minute changes led to widespread dissatisfaction among aspirants
Problems with Admit Cards and Exam Centres
Complaints from candidates highlighted several organisational lapses. Many reported receiving their SSC MTS admit cards only a day before their scheduled exam, leaving little time to arrange travel and logistics for distant exam centres. Some candidates travelled up to 500 kilometres only to discover upon arrival that the exam had been cancelled, adding to their financial and emotional burden. On social media, aspirants used hashtags such as #ssc_jawab_do to express frustration and demand accountability from the Commission and related authorities. Posts criticised the short notice for cancellations, poor communication, and inadequate planning for centre allocation.
Candidates Demand Fair Process and Transparency
The abrupt cancellation also sparked debate over the transparency and fairness of the examination process, with students urging the SSC to improve recruitment protocols and ensure candidates are informed well in advance. Some aspirants have demanded that admit cards be issued at least four days before the exam date to avoid such last‑minute issues. Meanwhile, the SSC has reiterated its intention to reschedule the affected exam shifts and has assured candidates that fresh admit cards will be issued for the new exam dates. This move aims to provide another opportunity for aspirants to appear for the MTS test without further disruption. The final revised schedule has not yet been announced, and candidates are advised to monitor official SSC communication channels for updated information regarding new exam dates and admit card releases.
