The result covers the Re-NEET UG 2026 examination held on June 21, 2026, after the original May 3 exam was cancelled following a paper leak. Of the nearly 20 lakh candidates who appeared, 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified, and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to open AIQ counselling registration shortly.

NEET UG 2026 Cutoff: Category-wise Qualifying Marks
Qualifying percentiles have stayed the same as previous years, but the cutoff marks have risen to their highest level on record for the General and OBC categories, reflecting a tougher overall competition this cycle.
NEET UG 2026 Toppers
No candidate secured a perfect 720 this year. Two candidates jointly topped the exam with 715 marks each, and a small cluster of candidates crossed the 700 mark.
Beyond the top rank, 19 candidates scored above 700 marks and 138 candidates scored above 690 marks. Among those 138, more than 93% were first-time NEET takers and nearly 99% were in the 17–19 age group. A further 1,492 candidates scored 650 marks or higher. The top 17 scorers, all above 705 marks, came from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.

Seat Matrix for NEET UG 2026 Admissions
The National Medical Commission released an updated MBBS seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic session shortly before the result, putting the total at 1,36,939 MBBS seats across 823 medical colleges, excluding seats under Institutes of National Importance such as AIIMS and JIPMER, which are counselled separately.
Why Was This a Re-Exam Year?
The original NEET UG 2026 exam, held on May 3 for 22.79 lakh registered candidates, was cancelled in mid-May after NTA confirmed reports of a paper leak. A CBI probe traced the breach to an NTA-linked source, and the re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, in offline mode with the standard 720-mark, four-subject format and the usual +4/-1 marking scheme. This year's result, cutoff, and merit list are all based on the June 21 re-exam.
What Happens Next: MCC Counselling 2026
With the result out, candidates who qualified can now register for counselling. MCC conducts counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), central universities, deemed universities, ESIC institutes, AIIMS, and JIPMER, while the remaining 85% state quota seats are counselled separately by each state authority. As of this writing, MCC has not issued an official Round 1 date; based on the result timeline, registration is expected to open in the July 21–25, 2026 window, but candidates should confirm the exact date on mcc.nic.in rather than treat this as final. The AIQ process typically runs across four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (mop-up), and a Stray Vacancy round.
Reservation for AIQ seats follows the standard central norms: EWS 10%, OBC-NCL 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%, and PwBD 5% horizontal reservation within each category.
