Mandatory Online Mode for Fee Payment

IIT Bombay has directed that all students must pay their academic fees only through the official Academic Services Centre (ASC) portal at portal.iitb.ac.in/asc. IIT Bombay will not accept any offline modes for payment. Students have also been advised to avoid UPI for transactions above ₹ one lakh due to daily transaction limits and to use net banking, debit cards, or other approved digital payment options instead. The institute has cautioned students to ensure that their transaction reaches successful completion, as partial or failed payments will not be considered valid.

Fee Exemption for SC, ST, and PwD Students

According to the official notice:

  • Students belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories are exempted from paying tuition fees
  • Other applicable charges such as hostel and mess fees will continue as per norms
  • PhD scholars submitting their thesis on or before the first day of Spring Semester registration are exempted from paying fees for the Spring Semester 2025–26

Guidelines for Bank Loan, Sponsorship, and NEFT Payments

Students opting to pay through bank loans, sponsorships, or NEFT must mandatorily generate an official fee demand through the ASC portal under the “Bank Loan / NEFT Fee Payment” tab. Key instructions include:

  • The generated fee demand will be valid for ten days only
  • After the transfer, students must enter the UTR number and transaction details on the ASC portal
  • Students are required to initiate the process at least fifteen days before the fee deadline to avoid registration delays
  • Direct payments to the Registrar, IIT Bombay account will no longer be accepted

Verification of NEFT and UTR entries will be carried out as per the FAQs issued by the institute.

Fee Receipt Collection Details

The institute has also clarified that fee receipts will be generated only after bank reconciliation. Students will be able to collect their original fee receipt in person from the Cash Section, First Floor, NN Main Building, IIT Bombay, eight to ten days after successful payment. For any queries related to online fee transactions, students have been advised to contact onlinepay@iitb.ac.in through official communication only. The latest notice ensures streamlined digital fee payment while reinforcing strict compliance with deadlines, as semester registration at IIT Bombay remains fully dependent on successful academic fee submission for Spring Semester 2025–26.
