University of Birmingham Offers £10,000 Scholarship for Indian PG Students 2026

The University of Birmingham has announced the India Postgraduate Chancellor’s Scholarship for the September 2026 intake. The scholarship offers £10,000 towards tuition fees for selected Indian students enrolling in full-time Master’s programmes at its UK campus. The award value has been increased significantly for 2026. The scholarship will be applicable for the first year of study at the Birmingham (Edgbaston) campus.

 

University of Birmingham Scholarship 2026 Award Details and Increase

The university has revised the scholarship amount over the past three years. The progression reflects a steady increase in financial support for Indian students.

  • In 2024, 15 scholarships worth £2,000 each were awarded.
  • In 2025, 50 scholarships valued at £5,000 each were granted.
  • For 2026, 15 scholarships will be offered, each worth £10,000 for the first year.

The scholarship applies to students beginning their postgraduate taught programme in the 2026–27 academic year.

 

University of Birmingham PG Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet specific academic and admission requirements to qualify. The following conditions apply:

  • Must have received an offer for a full-time postgraduate programme starting in September 2026
  • Must select the University of Birmingham as the firm choice
  • Must meet the academic conditions mentioned in the offer letter
  • Must be domiciled in India
  • Must be classified as an overseas fee payer

Candidates are also required to pay a £3,000 deposit by the deadline stated in their offer letter. They must demonstrate the ability to cover remaining tuition fees and living expenses in the UK. The scholarship cannot be deferred to a later intake.

 

Scholarship Application Process and Deadline 2026

Students must first accept their admission offer and pay the required deposit. After completing this step, they can submit a separate scholarship application. The last date to apply is 31 May 2026. Selection will be based on academic merit and the Statement of Purpose provided by the applicant. Selected candidates must enrol in September 2026 and pay the net tuition fees for the first year by 1 November 2026 following enrolment. The scholarship aims to support academically strong Indian students seeking postgraduate admission in the UK for the 2026 academic cycle.
