The Delhi government has announced a new initiative under the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission — it will provide free professional coaching to 2,200 meritorious government-school students preparing for competitive exams such as JEE Main/Advanced, NEET UG, CLAT, CA Foundation, and CUET UG. The scheme seeks to democratize access to quality exam preparation for students who otherwise may not afford coaching. The budget allocation for the programme is ₹21 crore. Selected students will receive classroom coaching, live sessions, study material, and test-preparation support — all outside regular school hours and during weekends.
How the Free Coaching Scheme Works Under Vidya Shakti Mission?
Under the new scheme:
- 2,200 students from government schools will benefit.
- Coaching is offered for major competitive exams: JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA Foundation, and CUET-UG.
- Seats for girls are reserved — 50 seats per course (JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA), and for CUET-UG , 1,000 seats in total with 150 seats reserved for female students.
- Coaching will be provided via empanelled institutes including Aakash Institute, Narayana Academy, KD Campus, and Ravindra Institute.
- Students can get study materials, live & physical classes, and test-preparation support after school hours and on weekends.
Why the Initiative Matters?
This scheme marks a significant step toward equalizing educational opportunity. Many talented students from government schools often miss out on quality coaching because of financial constraints. By offering free coaching, Delhi aims to:
- Boost access to competitive-exam preparation for underprivileged students.
- Reduce inequality in higher-education access.
- Encourage more students to attempt national-level exams without financial burden.
- Support mental wellness and reduce stress associated with expensive private coaching, as per vision statements of the Vidya Shakti Mission.
Education Minister highlighted that this move aims to empower aspirations and build future-ready schools across the capital.
What Students Should Know to Benefit from the Scheme?
- Eligible students must belong to government schools in Delhi.
- Coaching will be extra-school hour and weekend based, so time management will be key.
- Seats are limited — students must meet the meritorious selection criteria decided through the initial screening (for example via CET-2025).
- Girls benefit from reserved seats across courses, increasing inclusivity and gender equity.
