TNPSC has released the Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts) 2026 notification for 170 vacancies across 31 posts. Applications are open from September 7 to October 6, 2026.
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released the TNPSC CTSE Notification 2026 for Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts). The recruitment drive covers 170 vacancies across 31 posts in different departments and organisations under the Tamil Nadu government.
The notification was issued on August 31, 2026. The online application process started on September 7, and the last date to submit the TNPSC CTSE application form is October 6, 2026. The recruitment will be conducted through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by an interview or oral test.

The correction window will remain open from 12:01 AM on October 10 until 11:59 PM on October 12, 2026. The CBT is tentatively scheduled for November/December 2026.
TNPSC CTSE Eligibility Criteria 2026
Eligibility depends on the post selected. The recruitment includes positions requiring bachelor's degrees, postgraduate qualifications, professional qualifications and specialised technical education.
For example, the Veterinary Assistant Surgeon post requires a B.V.Sc. & A.H. qualification. Engineering-related positions require the relevant engineering qualification, while finance and company secretary posts have their own professional and experience requirements.
The general age requirement starts at 21 years as on July 1, 2026. The upper age limit differs depending on the post. For several specialised posts, the maximum age can extend beyond 32 years. Age relaxation is available under applicable Tamil Nadu government rules for eligible categories.
Knowledge of Tamil is also required for most posts. The requirement can generally be established through academic records or the prescribed language test. However, exemptions apply to certain positions, including Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Research Assistant, Port Officer and System Analyst.
TNPSC CTSE Application Fee 2026
Applicants have to pay the applicable one-time registration and examination fees. The fee structure is given below.
The INR 150 OTR fee is applicable to new registrations and remains valid for five years. The examination fee is INR 200, while an additional INR 200 may be charged for each extra subject paper where applicable. Fee exemptions are available to eligible applicants under government rules.
TNPSC CTSE Exam Pattern 2026
The written examination consists of Paper I and Paper II. Paper I includes the Tamil Eligibility Test, General Studies and Aptitude and Mental Ability. Paper II tests subject-specific knowledge related to the selected post.
The Tamil Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature. A minimum of 40%, or 60 marks out of 150, is required in Part A. The remaining sections of Paper I and Paper II will be evaluated only after meeting this requirement.
TNPSC CTSE Selection Process 2026
The selection process has two stages:
- Computer Based Test
- Interview or Oral Test
The written examination carries a total of 450 marks for the evaluated components. The interview carries 60 marks. Shortlisting for the interview will be based on written examination performance and the applicable reservation rules.
