India Post has released the India Post GDS 2026 state wise vacancy details for the July 2026 Schedule II recruitment. A total of 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts are available across postal circles in the country.

The recruitment covers posts such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak. Registration started on August 31, 2026, while online applications can be submitted from September 2 to September 21, 2026.

The North Eastern Circle has the highest number of vacancies with 2,614 posts, followed by Maharashtra with 2,431 and Tamil Nadu with 2,118 posts. Delhi has the lowest vacancy count at 16 posts.

India Post GDS 2026 Eligibility

The GDS recruitment is open to applicants who meet the prescribed education, age and language requirements.

There is no competitive written examination for the India Post GDS recruitment. The selection is made through a merit list prepared using Class 10 marks.

The merit list is generated after converting the marks or eligible grades into percentages, with the marks calculated to four decimal places as prescribed in the recruitment rules. Shortlisted applicants are then required to complete the document verification process.
