East Coast Railway (ECoR) has released the notification for Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27. The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Bhubaneswar, is inviting online applications for 1,599 apprenticeship training slots across different divisions, workshops, and departments.

 

The notification was issued on August 21, 2026. The online application process started on August 26 and will close on September 15, 2026, at 5 PM. The recruitment is open to applicants who have passed Class 10 and hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Highlights

The recruitment is being conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The important details are given below.

The 1,599 slots are spread across the Carriage Repair Workshop, Mancheswar, RGDA Division, Khurda Road Division, Sambalpur Division and East Coast Railway Headquarters at Bhubaneswar.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Vacancy 2026

A total of 1,599 Act Apprentice slots have been notified. The largest share is available in the Khurda Road Division.

The vacancies cover trades such as Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Carpenter, Machinist, Turner, Blacksmith, Plumber, Mason, Wireman, Electronics Mechanic, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, among others.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Eligibility 2026

Applicants must meet both the educational and technical requirements prescribed in the notification.

Those waiting for their Class 10 or ITI results on the notification date are not eligible. Engineering degree and diploma holders are also not eligible under this particular apprentice notification.

 

For the Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) trade, Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology is required along with the prescribed marks.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Application Fee

The application fee for the East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment is INR 100. The fee is non-refundable and has to be paid online through the payment gateway available during the application process.

Payment can be made through debit card, credit card, UPI or internet banking. Applicants should verify their details before making the payment because changes are not allowed after the fee payment process is completed.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Selection Process

There is no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Selection will be based on a merit list prepared using Class 10 marks.

 

The main stages are:

  • Merit list based on Matriculation marks
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Fitness verification
  • Final engagement for apprenticeship training

Marks obtained in all subjects will be considered while calculating the Class 10 percentage. The notification does not permit a best-of-five calculation. In case of a tie, preference will be given to the older applicant.

 

East Coast Railway Apprentice Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend at the rate prescribed under the applicable apprenticeship rules and Railway Board instructions. The notification does not mention a fixed stipend amount.

 

The apprenticeship is a training engagement and does not guarantee a permanent Railway job after completion.
