Telangana has initiated a new education policy aimed at improving inclusivity, infrastructure, and access to quality education across government schools in the state.

Telangana Launches New Education Policy Focused on Inclusion

Telangana Launches New Education Policy Focused on Inclusivity and Infrastructure, marking a major step towards reforming the state’s public education system. The policy is being developed to strengthen government schools through improved infrastructure, inclusive learning environments, and alignment with national education standards. The initiative was discussed during a high-level meeting at the state secretariat, where the government confirmed that a dedicated committee of education experts has been constituted to frame the Telangana Education Policy.

New Telangana Education Policy Aligned with National Standards

The proposed education policy is being prepared on the lines of the National Education Policy, with a focus on holistic development across all stages of schooling. The policy aims to modernise curriculum delivery, improve teaching standards, and ensure equal learning opportunities for students from all backgrounds. State authorities stated that the policy will emphasise long-term structural improvements rather than short-term interventions.

Integrated School Model Central to Education Reforms

One of the key pillars of Telangana’s education reforms is the integrated residential school model. Under this initiative, residential schools are being developed on 25-acre campuses, each with an investment of INR 200 crore. These schools are designed to bring together students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities, and other communities within a single campus, promoting social integration and equal access to facilities.

Focus on Infrastructure and Inclusive Learning Environment

Each integrated school campus is planned with modern academic blocks, hostels, sports facilities, and support services. The objective is to ensure that students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive the same quality of education and infrastructure as those in private institutions. Officials highlighted that inclusive infrastructure is essential to reducing disparities in educational outcomes across social and economic groups.

Strengthening Rural Education and Early Learning

The state government also discussed measures to expand pre-primary education, particularly in rural areas. Proposals include strengthening government schools to compete with private schools and providing transportation facilities for pre-primary students in remote regions. These steps are intended to improve early childhood education access and reduce dropout rates at the foundational level.

Expansion of Vocational and Technical Education

As part of the broader education reform agenda, Telangana plans to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Training Centres. The government aims to establish such centres in every constituency to strengthen vocational and technical education. This initiative is expected to enhance employability and skill development opportunities for students across the state.

Inter-State Collaboration on Education Reforms

Representatives from another state expressed interest in Telangana’s integrated school model and requested detailed information on its implementation. The discussions highlighted the potential for inter-state knowledge sharing and collaboration on education reforms. Officials noted that Telangana’s approach could serve as a reference model for other states seeking to strengthen government education systems.

Long-Term Vision for Public School Education

Through investments in infrastructure, inclusive policies, early childhood education, and skill development, Telangana aims to make government schools more competitive and accessible. The new education policy is expected to play a crucial role in reshaping the state’s public education framework in the coming years.
