Tamil Nadu Board Exams 2026 Begin, 17.61 Lakh Appears

Tamil Nadu Board Exams 2026 have commenced from 2 March with over 17.61 lakh students registered across Class 12, 11 and SSLC. The Higher Secondary exams will conclude on 26 March, with results expected on 8 May 2026.

Tamil Nadu Board Exams 2026 Begin, 17.61 Lakh Appears

Tamil Nadu Board Exams 2026 begin on 2 March 2026 with over 17,61,528 students appearing across the state. The examinations are being conducted in the March–April 2026 cycle under the Directorate of General Education, Tamil Nadu. The Class 12 (Plus Two) public examinations started today with language papers, including Tamil, at centres statewide.

 

TN Class 12 Public Exam 2026 Schedule and Student Data

The Higher Secondary examinations will continue until 26 March 2026, and the results are expected on 8 May 2026. A total of 8,27,475 students are appearing for Class 12 exams this year. This includes 7.99 lakh regular candidates and 27,783 private candidates. The exams are being held at 3,412 centres across Tamil Nadu. State Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi inspected an examination centre in T-Nagar to review arrangements.

 

TN Class 11 (Plus One) Exam 2026 Details

Class 11 students have also begun their examinations from 2 March 2026. The Plus One exams are scheduled to continue until 27 March 2026. A total of 25,051 candidates are registered for the Plus One examinations. Among them, 19,107 are regular studentsand 5,944 are private candidates.

 

TN SSLC Exam Date 2026 and Candidate Numbers

The Class 10 (SSLC) examinations are scheduled to begin on 11 March 2026 and will conclude on 6 April 2026. Around 9.09 lakh students are set to appear for SSLC this year. This includes 8.82 lakh regular candidates and 26,196 private candidates. In total, 17,61,528 students are registered for the Tamil Nadu board examinations in 2026.

 

TN Board Exam Arrangements and Invigilators

To ensure smooth conduct, the state government has deployed thousands of officials and invigilators.

 

For Class 12 exams:

  • 4,540 chief superintendents
  • 44,624 invigilators

For Class 11 exams:

  • 289 officials
  • 2,668 invigilators

For SSLC exams:

  • 4,954 officials
  • 49,542 invigilators

Special provisions have also been made for students requiring scribes. A total of 7,465 scribes have been allotted for Plus Two candidates, 186 for Class 11, and 12,292 for SSLC. Authorities identified 281 Class 12 students and 395 Class 10 students with physical difficulties for writing assistance. Officials confirmed that seating, drinking water, and security arrangements are in place at centres across the state to ensure adherence to examination guidelines.
