The National Testing Agency (NTA) is closing the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 registration on November 27, 2025, giving students a limited window to complete their applications. This is a crucial step for engineering aspirants preparing for one of India’s most competitive national exams. With no notable extensions expected, candidates are strongly advised not to wait till the final day and to ensure their application process is completed well in advance.
New Requirements in JEE Main 2026 Application Form
This year’s JEE Main Application Process features several new changes introduced by NTA, designed to enhance security and verification:
- Webcam-based photo capture is now mandatory during registration.
- There is automatic identity verification to reduce fraudulent entries.
- Centre allocation will consider Aadhar address, making the process more streamlined.
- Updated file size limits: photographs must be between 10 KB and 200 KB, while signatures should range from 10 KB to 100 KB.
- For PwD candidates, uploading the UDID (disability) certificate in PDF format (size: 50–300 KB) is compulsory.
- Once the photo is submitted, there will be no correction window, so accuracy matters greatly.
These changes reflect NTA’s aim to make the registration process more robust and error-proof.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Schedule for Session 1 & Session 2
Understanding the exam schedule helps candidates plan their preparation strategy effectively. With two sessions available, students can choose to sit for either or both, depending on their readiness and objectives.
The exam will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode and offered in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, and several regional languages.
JEE Main 2026 Application Fee & Payment Guidelines
Candidates are required to pay the application fee while registering. The payment is to be made online via card or net banking. Although the exact fee amount is similar to the previous year, aspirants should confirm the final charge on the official site. Following payment, candidates must upload scanned documents — including their photo, signature, and any required certificate — as per the new file-size specifications.
