The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, has updated the BITSAT 2026 eligibility criteria. The institute has removed the clause allowing full Class 12 reattempts, clarifying that only first-time or subject-wise improvement candidates can apply. This change affects a specific group of aspirants and ensures eligibility rules are clear for the upcoming admissions.
What Changed in BITSAT 2026 Eligibility?
Previously, candidates who retook all Class 12 subjects in a later year were eligible to appear for BITSAT if their results were declared before the deadline. The clause allowing this full reattempt has now been removed. All other eligibility conditions remain unchanged.
Impact of Removing Clause ‘C’
- Candidates retaking the entire Class 12 exam (all subjects) are now ineligible for BITSAT 2026.
- Eligibility is restricted to students appearing for Class 12 for the first time in 2025 or 2026, or those appearing for subject-wise improvement exams.
Eligibility Criteria That Remain Unchanged
For B.E. (Except Environmental & Sustainability Engineering) and M.Sc.
- Passed Class 12 under the 10+2 system from a recognised board
- Minimum five subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one Language, and one additional subject
- 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
- 60% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (theory + practical)
For B.Pharm and B.E. Environmental & Sustainability Engineering
- Minimum five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics, one Language, and one additional subject
- 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics
- 60% marks individually in required subjects
- PCB students must have Class 10-level Mathematics proficiency
Who Is Eligible for BITSAT 2026?
Candidates must ensure that results are declared before the submission deadline in June 2026, as specified on the admissions portal. The update ensures that BITSAT 2026 admission remains fair and clear, focusing on candidates appearing for first-time or improvement exams. Aspirants are advised to check eligibility carefully before applying to avoid last-minute disqualification.
