James Dyson Award 2026 Applications Open; Register by July 15

Applications for the James Dyson Award 2026 have opened from March 11, 2026. The international innovation competition invites university students and recent graduates in design and engineering to submit their problem-solving inventions. Eligible candidates can submit their entries through the official application portal until July 15, 2026.

The award encourages young innovators to develop practical solutions to real-world problems through engineering and design. Winning entries receive financial support and global recognition to further develop their inventions.

JAMES Dyson Award 2026 Eligibility and Participation

The competition is open to current university students and recent graduates who have studied design or engineering disciplines. Participants can apply individually or as part of a team with their innovative project ideas.

Entries are first evaluated at the national level in each participating country. A panel of experts, including engineers from Dyson, will review submissions and select the top projects. Each country will announce one national winner and two runners-up based on innovation, functionality, and problem-solving impact.

Prize Money and Global Selection

National winners of the James Dyson Award will receive £5,000 (approximately INR 5 lakh) along with the opportunity to advance to the international round. After the national stage, a panel of Dyson engineers will shortlist 20 international entries from across participating countries. From this shortlist, James Dyson will personally select the global winners.

The global winner of the competition will receive £30,000 (around INR 37 lakh). The award also provides an opportunity for innovators to gain international exposure and support to further develop their inventions. The competition aims to encourage students to apply engineering and design thinking to create practical technologies that can address everyday challenges and improve lives.
