UPSC Introduces Face Authentication for Candidate Verification as the examination authority has adopted biometric technology to strengthen identity verification at examination centres. The move aims to enhance transparency, fairness, and security across the examination process. The new system has been introduced as part of efforts to curb impersonation and examination-related malpractices.
Face Authentication Process at UPSC Examination Centres
The Union Public Service Commission has implemented facial recognition–based authentication for candidates appearing in its examinations. Under this system, candidates undergo live facial verification at the examination centre. The captured facial image is matched with the photograph uploaded by the candidate during the application process. This verification is conducted in addition to existing checks such as admit card scrutiny and government-issued identity proof verification. Candidates are advised to ensure that the photograph uploaded in their application form is clear, recent, and closely matches their current appearance to avoid verification issues at the exam centre.
Benefits of UPSC Face Authentication System
The introduction of face authentication is expected to bring multiple operational and security advantages to the examination process. This initiative helps reduce impersonation attempts, enables faster and more accurate candidate verification, and strengthens transparency and fairness during examinations. It also aligns UPSC’s recruitment and examination procedures with modern digital governance and biometric security practices. The implementation of face authentication reflects UPSC’s continued focus on maintaining the integrity of its examinations while adopting advanced technology for efficient candidate verification.
