Punjab Board to Supply Textbooks Directly to Class 1–12 from 2026–27

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced that it will directly distribute textbooks to Class 1 to Class 12 students starting from the 2026–27 academic session. The initiative will be implemented through affiliated and associated schools only, ensuring uniform availability of authorised textbooks across the state. According to the board, the decision aims to reduce the financial burden on parents and ensure timely access to curriculum-aligned study material before the commencement of the new academic year.

Punjab School Education Board Direct Textbook Supply with 15 Percent Discount

Under the new system, textbooks will be supplied directly by the Punjab School Education Board with a 15 percent discount. This measure is expected to make textbooks more affordable while maintaining quality and curriculum consistency. The textbooks will strictly follow the PSEB-prescribed syllabus and will cover all core and elective subjects, including Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Languages, and optional subjects for Classes 1 to 12.

Punjab School Education Board Affiliated Schools Must Submit Book Demand by 15 March 2026

To streamline the distribution process, PSEB has launched an online book demand portal on its official website, pseb.ac.in. All affiliated schools are required to log in and submit their class-wise and subject-wise textbook requirements. The last date to submit the textbook demand is 15 March 2026. Schools failing to complete the online submission within the deadline may face delays in textbook availability for the upcoming academic session. The board has emphasised that timely submission will help authorities make necessary arrangements and ensure smooth distribution well before classes begin.

Textbooks to Be Available Before New Academic Session

PSEB has confirmed that textbook distribution will begin before the start of the 2026–27 academic session, allowing schools adequate time to plan classroom instruction. This move is expected to minimise last-minute shortages and reduce dependency on private book sellers. Parents have been advised to purchase only board-authorised textbooks supplied through schools and avoid unofficial or non-recommended study materials. With this initiative, the Punjab Board aims to improve transparency, affordability, and standardisation in textbook distribution across the state’s school education system.
