The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has clarified invigilator swap policies for the upcoming SSC and HSC exams 2026. Earlier plans to rotate teachers across schools to prevent malpractice have been restricted. Now, exchanges will occur only at exam centres without CCTV surveillance, addressing logistical and supervision concerns.
Reason Behind Restricting Teacher Exchanges
Teachers and principals raised concerns over supervising exams at unfamiliar schools, long travel distances, and regular class schedules. Responding to these concerns, MSBSHSE limited the exchange system to CCTV-free centres.Tanaji Mane, chairman of the Maharashtra Principals' Association, said, “90–95 per cent of exam centres already have CCTV cameras. Remaining centres could not install them due to budget constraints but should be fully equipped by next year. Exchanging centres for a small number is unnecessary.”
Board Guidelines for CCTV-Free Centres
Board officials directed division heads to replace invigilators only at centres lacking CCTV. Planning and monitoring reports must be submitted for the February–March 2026 exams. Sensitive centres and five main subjects will receive close monitoring. Centres failing to install CCTV this year will not be allocated as exam centres next year. Funds have been allocated to district officers to maintain camera and drone surveillance data.
