KPSC Mains Exam Row, Karnataka Govt to Examine Alleged Irregularities

KPSC Mains Exam Row: Karnataka Govt to Examine Alleged Irregularities after concerns were raised over the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Mains examination results for Gazetted Probationers. The Karnataka government stated that it would review the complaints and ensure transparency in the recruitment process.

The examination was conducted for 384 Gazetted Probationer (Group A and Group B) posts, and the recently released results have shortlisted candidates for the next stage of interviews.

Allegations Raised Over KPSC Mains Selection Process

Several aspirants have questioned the transparency of the KPSC recruitment process after noticing unusual patterns in the announced results.

According to complaints raised by candidates:

  • More than 10 to 15 candidates with consecutive serial numbers who wrote the exam in the same examination room at a single centre reportedly qualified.
  • In some cases, multiple candidates from the same family who appeared for the exam also cleared the Mains stage.

These developments have led some aspirants to allege irregularities and possible corruption in the selection process.

Karnataka Government Response on KPSC Exam Complaints

Responding to the issue, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the government would review the complaints and ensure that the recruitment process remains fair for candidates.

He stated that examination agencies often receive complaints, but if the current allegations are serious, the government would examine them carefully. The minister also added that it would be better if the matter is addressed by the Karnataka Public Service Commission at the earliest.

He noted that the government has previously taken steps to improve the recruitment system, including changes in administrative officials responsible for the process.

Recruitment Transparency Emphasised by Government

The minister highlighted that the state government is planning large-scale recruitment across departments. According to him, the government has decided to carry out approximately 56,000 recruitments, which will be conducted through agencies such as KPSC and the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

He emphasised that during such large recruitment drives, maintaining transparency and fairness in the selection process is essential. Officials responsible for recruitment processes must be accountable if irregularities are identified.

Opposition Plans to Raise Issue in Assembly

The issue has also drawn political attention. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra stated that the matter would be raised during the upcoming Karnataka Assembly session.

Opposition leaders have indicated that they will discuss the issue with other party members and highlight concerns regarding the recruitment process.

Aspirants Demand Fair Probe Into KPSC Results

Some candidates who appeared for the examination have demanded a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities. They have also urged authorities to withhold the results until a proper inquiry is conducted.

According to aspirants, conducting a transparent probe is necessary to ensure that deserving candidates are not disadvantaged in the recruitment process. The final decision regarding further action is expected after the government reviews the complaints and evaluates the situation.
