IIT Roorkee has announced the schedule for JEE Advanced 2026, the entrance exam for admission to IIT BTech programmes. The exam will be conducted on 17 May 2026. Online registration for eligible JEE Main candidates will begin on 23 April 2026.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026, which serves as the gateway to undergraduate programmes at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). According to the official schedule, the JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted on 17 May 2026 in computer-based test (CBT) mode across examination centres in India. Only candidates who qualify in JEE Main 2026 and rank among the top 2,50,000 candidates across categories will be eligible to register for the exam.

 

JEE Advanced 2026 Important Dates and Schedule

IIT Roorkee has released the key dates related to registration, admit card release and examination. Candidates must complete the application process within the specified timeline to appear for the exam.

The exam will consist of two compulsory papers conducted on the same day, with Paper 1 held in the morning and Paper 2 in the afternoon.

 

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Pattern and Mode

The JEE Advanced exam is known for testing analytical ability and conceptual understanding in core science subjects. The exam is conducted entirely online. Key exam pattern details include:

  • Exam Mode: Computer-Based Test
  • Number of Papers: Two compulsory papers
  • Paper 1 Timing: 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Paper 2 Timing: 02:30 PM – 05:30 PM
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Both papers must be attempted by candidates to be considered for ranking in the exam.

 

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2026

Candidates must satisfy several conditions before registering for the exam. These criteria are defined by the organising institute and are mandatory for all applicants. Key eligibility requirements include:

  • Candidates must qualify JEE Main 2026 and rank among the top 2,50,000 candidates.
  • Students should have appeared for the Class 12 board examination in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Candidates already admitted to an IIT are generally not eligible to appear again.

 

JEE Advanced 2026 Result and Admission Process

After the exam is conducted, IIT Roorkee will release the final answer key and results on 01 June 2026. The results will determine eligibility for admission to BTech programmes offered by IITs. Qualified candidates will then participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process, through which seats are allotted across IITs and other participating institutions based on rank and preferences.
