The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has invited applications for the Institute-funded SPARK Summer Internship Programme 2026, offering a research-oriented summer experience to undergraduate students across India. The programme aims to develop research skills and encourage students to explore higher education pathways.

 

SPARK Summer Internship 2026 Application Deadline and Details

Undergraduate students interested in the SPARK Summer Internship 2026 must complete their online applications before 8 March 2026. Applications are being accepted through the official portal at spark.iitr.ac.in.

The SPARK initiative is scheduled to be conducted on the IIT Roorkee campus during the summer months, typically offering participants a period of hands-on research exposure under experienced faculty mentors.

 

Eligibility Criteria for SPARK 2026 Internship

Students must meet specific academic requirements to be eligible for the SPARK programme. Eligibility conditions include:

  • Current enrolment: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree such as B.Arch., B.E., B.Tech., BS-MS or M.Sc. from a recognised institute in India
  • Academic progress: Completion of at least two semesters of the current undergraduate programme.
  • Minimum CGPA: CGPA ≥ 7.5 for students from IITs and IIScCGPA ≥ 8.0 for students from NITs, IISERs, NISERCGPA ≥ 8.5 for students from other institutes

Selected interns are expected to participate in research projects under faculty supervision, engaging in academic discussions and practical tasks.

 

SPARK 2026 Process and Required Documents

To apply for the SPARK Summer Internship Programme 2026, candidates should:

  1. Visit the official SPARK online portal at spark.iitr.ac.in.
  2. Complete the registration with accurate personal and academic details.
  3. Upload essential documents, including: Current semester marksheet
    • Recent passport-style photograph
    • A 250-word research statement
    • A one- to two-page resume
  4. Students from institutes other than IIT Roorkee must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of joining.

Applicants should also indicate up to five preferred faculty members for mentorship while completing the form.

 

SPARK 2026 Stipend, Facilities and Internship Experience

Participants selected for the SPARK internship will receive a weekly stipend of Rs 3,000 during their tenure. Accommodation and mess facilities are accessible on payment of applicable charges, and interns will be issued temporary institute IDs for access to campus resources .On successful completion, interns will be awarded a certificate signed by the Dean, SRIC (Science and Innovation Council), recognising their research participation Eligible students who meet the criteria and submit complete applications before 8 March 2026 have the opportunity to gain valuable research exposure and develop academic networks at one of India’s premier technical institutes.
