With the conclusion of JEE Advanced 2026, thousands of aspirants are now exploring scholarship opportunities offered by IITs. The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur provides several scholarships and financial assistance schemes for undergraduate students admitted through JEE Advanced.
According to official institute guidelines, IIT Kharagpur offers Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) scholarships, tuition fee waivers, and endowment-based financial aid to eligible students enrolled in BTech, Dual Degree, BArch, Integrated MSc, and BS programmes.
IIT Kharagpur Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship 2026
The Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) scholarship is one of the primary financial assistance schemes offered by IIT Kharagpur for undergraduate students.
Courses Eligible for IIT KGP MCM Scholarship
Students admitted to the following programmes can apply:
- 4-Year BTech (Hons.)
- 5-Year Dual Degree programmes
- 5-Year BArch (Hons.)
- 5-Year Integrated MSc
- 4-Year BS programmes
However, SC/ST students are generally covered under Post-Matric Scholarship schemes offered by their respective state governments.
IIT Kharagpur Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To receive the scholarship, students must satisfy both merit and financial criteria prescribed by the institute.
Merit Conditions
For fresh entrants:
- Students must secure at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced.
For scholarship renewal:
- Students must maintain a minimum 7.00 GPA in two consecutive semesters.
Other Important Conditions
Students must also:
- Meet the family income/means criteria
- Maintain good disciplinary conduct
- Avoid involvement in examination malpractice or code of conduct violations
Any disciplinary action or academic misconduct may lead to cancellation of scholarship benefits.
IIT Kharagpur Scholarship Benefits
Eligible students selected under the MCM scholarship scheme receive:
- Full tuition fee exemption
- Scholarship support for 12 months of the academic session
- Access to institute-funded financial assistance schemes
However, students will still need to pay other prescribed institute charges and hostel-related fees.
How Many Students Receive IIT KGP Scholarships?
According to official guidelines, scholarships are awarded to a maximum of 25% of students admitted every year to undergraduate and dual degree programmes. Additionally, students who satisfy financial criteria but fail to meet the full merit requirements may still receive partial tuition fee exemptions under special provisions.

- Score at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwD), or
- Secure a position within the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
