Its reforms include a larger question bank, four-stage expert screening, stricter confidentiality requirements and improved question-paper verification procedures.

NTA Empanels Over 5,000 Experts to Strengthen Exam Paper Security After NEET UG Leak: Details Here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has empanelled more than 5,000 subject experts, academics, researchers, translators and moderators to strengthen examination security following the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. The move is part of a broader effort to improve question-paper preparation, verification and confidentiality across national-level examinations.

Why Has NTA Empanelled More Than 5,000 Experts?

The expansion of the expert panel follows concerns over examination security after the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. As part of its response, the NTA removed around 600 experts from its earlier panels and began strengthening its procedures for selecting specialists and handling confidential examination material.

The newly empanelled experts will support several stages of examination preparation, including:

  • Question-paper setting: Preparing questions according to the prescribed syllabus and examination requirements.
  • Question verification: Checking questions for accuracy, clarity and appropriate difficulty.
  • Translation and moderation: Reviewing translated questions and maintaining consistency across languages.
  • Answer-key verification: Examining answer keys and supporting the resolution of answer-related challenges.
  • Curriculum mapping: Ensuring questions align with the relevant syllabus and learning objectives.
  • Research and assessment: Supporting examination quality, test design and psychometric validation.

The wider panel is intended to provide the NTA with a larger pool of qualified specialists while strengthening checks on confidential academic work.

NTA Introduces Four-Stage Verification for Subject Experts

The NTA has introduced a four-stage screening process to assess applicants before they are added to its subject expert panel. The process is intended to verify academic qualifications, relevant experience, professional integrity and potential conflicts of interest.

The screening process includes the following checks:

Applicants are also subject to restrictions concerning links with coaching institutes and test-preparation organisations. Selected experts must sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) when they are empanelled and reaffirm their confidentiality obligations before each assignment.

Which Exams Will Be Covered by NTA's Security Measures?

The NTA conducts several major national-level entrance and eligibility examinations. Its examination portfolio includes:

  • NEET UG for undergraduate medical admissions
  • JEE Main for engineering admissions
  • CUET UG for undergraduate university admissions
  • CUET PG for postgraduate admissions
  • UGC NET for eligibility for Assistant Professor positions and other applicable purposes
  • CSIR UGC NET for eligibility and research-related opportunities under the applicable rules

The expanded expert panel and question-bank initiative are intended to support the agency's examination-related work. However, the specific experts and security procedures used may vary by examination and assignment.
