The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has released strict operational guidelines for all centres conducting the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examinations 2026, which are scheduled to begin on 26 February 2026. The board has made CCTV surveillance and fire safety compliance mandatory across all examination venues to ensure transparency, security, and fair conduct of the exams.
Mandatory CCTV Surveillance Rules for Exam Centres
Ahead of the Gujarat board exams 2026, GSHSEB has instructed all schools hosting exams to ensure that CCTV cameras are fully functional and properly installed throughout the examination blocks. Before detailing the requirements, the board has emphasised that CCTV monitoring is essential to prevent malpractice and maintain discipline during exams. Key CCTV instructions issued by GSHSEB include:
- Cameras must provide clear coverage of the entire exam block
- CCTV footage must clearly display:
- SSC/HSC exam block number
- Standard time clock
- Recording must begin 15 minutes before the exam starts and continue 15 minutes after the exam ends
- Separate video files must be maintained for:
- Main entrance gate
- Strong room
- CCTV recordings must be saved daily in two DVD copies
- One copy to be submitted to GSHSEB
- One copy to the District Education Officer
The board has also directed centre superintendents to appoint a computer-literate staff member exclusively to manage and monitor CCTV operations during exam days.
Fire Safety Compliance Made Compulsory
