Tamil Nadu’s State Board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 students are set to take place from 2 March to 6 April 2026, with the government announcing a large-scale monitoring and support system to ensure smooth conduct of the tests.
Extensive Monitoring: Teachers and Flying Squad Deployment
To strengthen supervision and curb unfair practices during the board exams, the Tamil Nadu School Education Department has assigned:
- 49,000 teachers for exam duty at various centres across the state
- 4,900 flying squad members tasked with overseeing procedures, monitoring irregularities, and acting swiftly in case of malpractice
These teams will operate in more than 10,000 examination centres where lakhs of students are registered to appear for their final assessments.
Tamil Nadu Board Exam Schedule and Student Assistance Measures
The board exam timetable covers:
- Class XII exams: 2 March to 26 March 2026 at 3,412 centres with over 8.2 lakh candidates appearing
- SSLC (Class 10) exams: 11 March to 6 April 2026 at 4,219 centres with approximately 9.09 lakh students
- Class XI arrear exams: 3 March to 27 March at 2,615 centres for around 25,051 candidates
- Prison inmates also form part of the examinee group with separate supervised arrangements
Additional Student-oriented Facilities
In other enhancements for convenience and accessibility:
- A4-size log books with larger fonts will replace the previously used smaller ones, aiding readability for students in subjects like physics and mathematics.
- Ordinary calculators will be permitted for students taking the accountancy paper, removing previous restrictions on such devices.
- For differently abled students requiring scribes, only selected volunteers such as B.Ed candidates, certain college students, DIET teachers, and 'Illam Thedi Kalvi' staff will be appointed to assist them, and a separate question packet system will be used to protect confidentiality.
Tamil Nadu Board Exam 2026: Security and Integrity Measures
To bolster academic integrity, exam centres housing question papers will be equipped with CCTV surveillance and daily monitoring of absentees and irregularities will be carried out by flying squad teams. Education officials continue to guide students and school authorities on adhering to exam protocols, arriving punctually at centres, and following health and safety measures during the examination period.
