The CBSE and ICSE board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 commenced today, marking the start of a critical phase in the academic calendar for students across the country.
CBSE Class 10 & 12 Exams Kick Off with New Processes
Today’s board exams under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) began amid significant changes to the examination framework for 2026. Under this year’s system reforms:
- CBSE has introduced an online evaluation process, where answer sheets will be scanned and digitally assessed by examiners instead of being physically transported.
- Class 10 students under CBSE will have two opportunities to appear in the board exams, with the second attempt applicable for up to three subjects.
- CISCE’s ICSE Class 10 papers now include a higher emphasis on critical thinking, with approximately 40% of questions designed to assess analytical skills.
CBSE Class 10 & 12 Exams Security and Student Guidance Ahead of Exams
CISCE has strengthened invigilation and monitoring protocols this year. Schools are required to retain CCTV footage for up to 60 days after results are announced, enhancing transparency and exam security. In a separate advisory, CBSE warned against misinformation and fake question paper leak claims circulating on social media and reaffirmed strict action against those spreading unverified content. School principals across affiliated institutions have encouraged students to remain calm, follow well-structured revision plans, and prioritize rest alongside preparation. Early arrival at exam centers and effective time management were also advised to reduce last-minute stress.
What CBSE Students Should Know Today?
Students are advised to:
- Familiarise themselves with any changes in exam patterns and formats set by their board.
- Arrive at designated exam centers ahead of time to avoid delays.
- Focus on writing clear answers and managing time effectively during the examination windows.
Board exams constitute one of the most important academic benchmarks for Indian students, and today’s commencement sets the stage for weeks of assessments across multiple subjects.
