The Ministry of Education released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2025 on 4 September 2025 in New Delhi. The list features the top 100 engineering colleges in India, evaluated on key parameters including teaching and learning resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, inclusivity, and peer perception. Once again, IITs dominate the top positions, followed by leading NITs and private institutions.
Top 100 Engineering Institutes in NIRF 2025
The first ten positions remain largely unchanged, with IIT Madras retaining the top spot. IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay follow in second and third place respectively, while NIT Tiruchirappalli continues to be the only NIT in the top ten.
Key Highlights from the Rankings
This year’s list reflected major jumps and new entries, with several private and deemed universities strengthening their position. Notably, BITS Pilani climbed to rank 11, while Chandigarh University secured position 31.
