NCAHP has notified new registration regulations for allied and healthcare professionals, introducing five-year registration, mandatory professional development, Central Register provisions and renewal requirements. The rules also cover provisional registration, registration fees and inactive status after expiry.
The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Profession (NCAHP) has notified new registration regulations for allied and healthcare professionals, bringing a formal framework for registration, renewal, provisional registration and maintenance of professional records.
The NCAHP Registration of Allied and Healthcare Professionals Regulations, 2026 were notified in the Gazette on August 31, 2026, and came into force from the date of publication. The rules cover registration with State and Central Registers and prescribe conditions for renewal and professional development.
The development is important for professionals working across recognised allied and healthcare categories, including physiotherapists, medical laboratory professionals, dieticians and other healthcare personnel. The government has been working towards a statutory registration system covering 57 recognised allied and healthcare professions.
NCAHP Registration Rules 2026: What Has Changed?
The new regulations establish how allied and healthcare professionals will be registered and how their registration status will be maintained.
The regulations provide a common framework for registration while allowing State Councils to handle registration where functional councils have been established.
NCAHP Renewal Rules 2026: What Happens if Registration Expires?
Professionals must apply for renewal before their registration expires. Under the new regulations, the renewal application for Central Register registration is to be submitted six months before the expiry of the registration validity.
If a renewal application is not received before the registration expires, the professional's entry in the Central Register will be reflected as inactive.
This makes maintaining CPD records important because professionals will need evidence of the required professional development activities when applying for renewal.
How to Register Under NCAHP 2026 Rules?
Eligible professionals should use the registration mechanism prescribed by NCAHP or the concerned State Allied and Healthcare Council, depending on whether a functional State Council exists in their State or Union Territory.
Applicants should keep their recognised qualification documents, identity details, photographs and other supporting documents ready. Professionals applying through the Central Register should also check the applicable fee and application requirements before submission.
The exact online application procedure and operational timelines should be followed from the registration portal and instructions issued by NCAHP or the concerned State Council.
