The QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 are out, with IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta continuing to feature among the world’s top 100 MBA programmes despite significant drops from their 2026 positions. IIM Bangalore remains India’s highest-ranked MBA institute, while IIM Calcutta recorded the sharpest decline among the three.

The latest QS MBA Rankings 2027 were released on September 16, 2026, covering more than 420 MBA programmes across 65 countries and territories. However, no Indian business school entered the global top 50 this year.

The latest QS ranking shows how the three leading Indian IIMs have moved compared with their positions in the previous edition.

IIM Bangalore remains the highest-ranked Indian MBA programme for the fourth consecutive year, although it dropped from 52nd to joint 64th globally. IIM Ahmedabad moved from 58th to joint 70th, while IIM Calcutta fell from 64th to 95th.

For MBA aspirants, the key takeaway is that all three IIMs remain within the QS Global MBA top 100 2027, despite the year-on-year movement.

QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: Why Did the Top IIMs Slip?

The decline is linked to performance across several QS ranking indicators, particularly return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes. QS evaluates MBA programmes through five broad lenses: employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity.

The change should not be interpreted as a direct fall in graduates’ salaries or actual financial returns. QS has clarified that its ranking scores are comparative measures used within the methodology.

The value-for-money scores of the three IIMs also recorded notable declines. IIM Bangalore’s score fell from 91 to 57.4, IIM Ahmedabad’s from 88.9 to 60.5 and IIM Calcutta’s from 78.9 to 53.3.

QS MBA Rankings 2027: India Records 19 MBA Entries

India’s overall representation in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 has expanded considerably. A total of 19 Indian MBA providers feature in this year’s ranking, including five new entrants.

The growth is significant compared with previous years, with India having only five institutions in the QS MBA ranking in 2020 and seven in 2022.

The complete QS ranking contains additional Indian entries across different ranking bands. The five new Indian institutions include O.P. Jindal Global University, Jaipuria Institute of Management, CHRIST, Manav Rachna International Institute and Vikrant University Gwalior.

QS MBA Rankings 2027: Global Top 10

The top of the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 is dominated by US and European business schools. MIT Sloan claimed the number one position, followed by Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business.

QS said the 2027 ranking covers 424 programmes, with the United States accounting for 133 ranked MBA programmes.
