NEET PG 2025 Counselling: Impact of the Revised Seat Matrix on Students

MCC has confirmed that 135 new seats have been added across MD and MS specialisations for round 2. These seats were reported late by institutions and have now been incorporated into the official matrix. The update is expected to benefit candidates targeting high-demand branches as well as those with relatively lower scores. The revised matrix improves the chances of securing a preferred course, upgrading from round 1 allotment, or shifting to a better college in subsequent rounds. Institutions reporting additional capacity include government colleges, deemed universities, and private medical colleges, widening the distribution of opportunities. Here is what the revised matrix means for students:

  • Offers fresh opportunities for students who narrowly missed preferred branches.
  • Expands chances for securing MD and MS seats during round 2.
  • Provides an additional window for reviewing course and college selection strategy.
  • Increases the likelihood of upgradation for round 1 candidates.
