The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that KCET 2026 ranks will be revised for eligible candidates whose Class 12 marks changed after revaluation. Students must submit their revised marksheets between July 04 and July 06, 2026, after which KEA will verify the documents through DigiLocker before updating the merit ranks and continuing the counselling process.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced a major update for candidates participating in the KCET (UGCET) 2026 admission process. The authority will revise the KCET 2026 merit ranks of eligible candidates whose Class 12 board examination marks have changed following revaluation or rechecking. The revised marks will be verified through DigiLocker before updated ranks are published. Candidates whose marks have been revised by CBSE, CISCE or other recognised State Boards are required to submit a copy of their revised mark sheet at the KEA office in Bengaluru within the notified timeline. The updated merit ranks will be used during the KCET 2026 counselling and seat allotment process for admissions to engineering, architecture, pharmacy and other professional courses in Karnataka.
KCET 2026 Rank Revision Schedule and Revised Marksheet Submission Dates
KEA has specified the dates during which eligible candidates must complete the verification process. The important schedule is given below.
Why is KEA revising KCET 2026 Merit Ranks?
The KCET 2026 merit list is prepared by considering both the entrance examination performance and qualifying examination marks wherever applicable under the prescribed admission policy. Some candidates received revised Class 12 marks after the declaration of board revaluation results. Since these revised marks may affect their overall merit position, KEA has decided to update eligible candidates' ranks before commencing the counselling process. The authority will first verify the authenticity of revised marksheets using DigiLocker and then incorporate the revised scores into the merit calculation. This ensures that candidates receive ranks based on their latest officially declared academic performance.
Who Needs to Submit the Revised Class 12 Marksheet?
The latest notification applies only to specific candidates whose marks changed after board revaluation. The eligible categories include:
- CBSE students with revised Class 12 marks
- CISCE (ISC) students whose marks changed after revaluation
- Candidates from recognised State Boards with updated marksheets
- Applicants whose revised marks have already been officially issued by the respective board
KCET 2026 DigiLocker Verification Process
KEA will verify every revised marksheet through DigiLocker before updating the candidate's merit rank. Only after successful verification through DigiLocker will the revised marks be considered for updating the KCET rank. Candidates should carry the following documents during physical verification:
- Original revised Class 12 marksheet
- Photocopy of the revised marksheet
- KCET 2026 application details
- Valid identity proof
- Supporting documents, if required
KCET 2026 Counselling Schedule After Rank Revision
The revision of ranks is expected to ensure that counselling proceeds with updated merit positions. Candidates should regularly monitor official notifications for the detailed counselling calendar and seat allotment announcements. Following completion of the verification process, KEA will continue with the counselling schedule, including:
- Publication of revised merit ranks
- Option entry
- Mock seat allotment
- Choice modification window
- Final seat allotment
- College reporting
How Will Revised KCET Ranks Affect Admissions?
The updated ranks may improve admission prospects for candidates whose board marks increased after revaluation. Candidates whose ranks improve may receive better seat allotment opportunities during the counselling rounds. Since KCET counselling is conducted strictly on the basis of merit, a higher revised rank could improve the chances of securing admission to the preferred:
- Engineering colleges
- Architecture programmes
- Pharmacy courses
- Agricultural courses
- Other professional programmes offered through UGCET
Important Instructions for KCET 2026 Candidates
Candidates eligible for rank revision should follow all instructions carefully. Failure to complete the verification process within the specified timeline may result in the existing rank being retained for counselling purposes. Important points include:
- Submit the revised marksheet only between July 04 and July 06, 2026.
- Carry original documents for verification.
- Ensure the revised marks are officially reflected by the respective board.
- Complete the physical verification process at the notified KEA office.
- Monitor official counselling notifications after rank revision.
What Candidates Should Expect Next
After completing verification of revised marksheets, KEA will update the merit ranks of eligible candidates and proceed with the remaining stages of the KCET 2026 counselling process. Candidates will subsequently receive opportunities to exercise web options, participate in mock allotment, modify preferences where permitted and compete for seat allocation based on the revised merit list. Students are advised to keep all original documents ready and follow official announcements closely to avoid missing any important counselling deadlines.
