Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Recruitment 2026 notification for 25 Security Guard posts. The recruitment is open to eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers for appointments in Chennai/Tamil Nadu. The online application process started on August 25, 2026, and candidates can apply until September 14, 2026.

The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27. Candidates should note that this is not a general recruitment for all 10th-pass applicants. The post is specifically reserved for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers meeting the prescribed service, education, language, age and physical fitness requirements.

IOB Security Guard Vacancy 2026

Indian Overseas Bank has announced 25 Security Guard vacancies. The category-wise vacancy distribution is given below.

The vacancies are reserved exclusively for Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers, excluding disabled Ex-Servicemen. The bank has also stated that the number of vacancies may change according to its requirements.

IOB Security Guard Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must meet the prescribed educational, age and service requirements.

• Candidates must be Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Agniveers from the Army, Navy or Air Force.
• Candidates must have passed 10th standard or an equivalent examination.
• Candidates must not have passed graduation or an equivalent examination.
• Candidates must be able to speak, read and write Tamil.
• The character of an Ex-Serviceman at the time of valid discharge should be “EXEMPLARY”.
• Candidates must meet the prescribed medical standards.

The basic age limit is 18 to 26 years as on August 1, 2026. However, relaxation is available for Ex-Servicemen based on category and the actual period of defence service, subject to the prescribed maximum age of 45 years.

IOB Security Guard Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed in the subordinate staff cadre. The pay scale is INR 19,500–37,815.

IOB has stated that the basic pay will be fixed based on the candidate's last drawn salary during defence service. Other benefits and emoluments will be provided according to the applicable industry-wide settlement and bank rules. Selected candidates will also undergo six months of probation.

IOB Security Guard Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of three major stages:

• Online Objective Test
• Tamil Language Test
• Physical Fitness Test

The online test will carry 80 marks, covering English Language, Aptitude, Arithmetic and Psychometric Test, with 20 marks for each section. The Tamil Language Test will carry 20 marks.

Candidates qualifying in the written and language tests will be called for the Physical Fitness Test. It includes push-ups, sit-ups, a 1-kilometre run and drill movements. The physical test carries 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 65 marks and minimum qualifying marks required in each activity.
