The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has introduced a one-year PG Diploma in Manufacturing Analytics for professionals and graduates. Applications are open until 31 May 2026, and the first batch of the programme will commence on 7 September 2026.

IIT Madras Launches PG Diploma in Manufacturing Analytics; Applications Open as the Indian Institute of Technology Madras has announced a new one-year postgraduate diploma programme focused on manufacturing analytics. The programme aims to equip professionals with advanced skills in data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and digital transformation.

 

The first batch of the programme will begin on 7 September 2026, while interested candidates can submit their applications until 31 May 2026 through the official portal code.iitm.ac.in/pgdma.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT Madras PG Diploma Programme

Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements set by IIT Madras to apply for the diploma programme. The course is primarily designed for individuals interested in developing expertise in manufacturing analytics and AI-driven industrial processes. Applicants should possess:

  • Three-year or four-year undergraduate degree in relevant disciplines
  • Degrees such as BSc Computer Science or Computer Applications may be considered
  • Admission will be subject to IIT Madras eligibility and selection criteria

The programme is particularly targeted at professionals working in large-scale and medium-scale manufacturing organisations as well as graduates aiming to build specialised capabilities in this field.

 

IIT Madras Manufacturing Analytics Programme Structure

The diploma is offered by the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Madras. It has been designed to address the growing demand for professionals who can apply advanced analytics and AI technologies to manufacturing operations and business decision-making. The programme includes several specialised courses such as:

  • Mathematical foundations for manufacturing analytics
  • Digital transformation in manufacturing
  • Machine learning and deep learning applications
  • Generative AI for manufacturing analytics
  • Manufacturing analytics implementation I and II

The course concludes with a comprehensive assessment of AI in manufacturing analytics, enabling learners to evaluate the adoption of AI from technological, operational, and organisational perspectives.

 

Programme Curriculum and Academic Structure

The curriculum integrates strong mathematical foundations with modern AI-driven technologies. The focus is on practical applications and real-world manufacturing challenges.

 

The programme will be structured over three academic terms across one year (September–August). It carries a total of 90 academic credits, highlighting its rigorous academic structure and applied learning approach.

 

Students will also gain exposure to real industry use cases in manufacturing, helping them understand how analytics and artificial intelligence can improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Highlighting the significance of such initiatives, Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, stated that India’s manufacturing sector is rapidly moving towards digital transformation. According to him, programmes that combine academic depth with industry relevance are essential for preparing future-ready professionals.

 

The newly launched postgraduate diploma is expected to help professionals develop the expertise required to lead technology-driven transformation in manufacturing, while strengthening India’s growing digital manufacturing ecosystem.
