IIT Delhi Recruitment 2026 for Consultant Post

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has invited applications for one Consultant post in its Legal Cell. The recruitment will be conducted through a shortlisting-based interview.

The engagement is purely contractual for an initial period of one year. It may be extended up to three years or until the candidate reaches 65 years of age, subject to requirements and satisfactory performance.

IIT Delhi Vacancy 2026

The recruitment is for one Consultant position in the Legal Cell. Candidates will be considered under two consultant types depending on their retirement and pension status.

For Consultant Type-I, candidates should have retired from Government of India service after superannuation and be drawing a pension under CCS Pension Rules or similar rules.

Consultant Type-II includes candidates who retired from government service but are not drawing a pension under CCS Pension Rules or similar rules, as well as personnel from PSUs.

IIT Delhi Recruitment 2026 Eligibility

Candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

• Must have an LLB degree from a recognised university or institution.
• Must have at least 10 years of experience in handling legal matters.
• The prescribed age limit is below 62 years.
• Candidates must meet the applicable retirement and pension conditions for the consultant type under which they apply.

IIT Delhi Consultant Salary 2026

For Consultant Type-II, the consolidated remuneration will be between INR 35,000 and INR 50,000 per month.

The remuneration for Consultant Type-I will be provided as per the applicable Government of India Ministry of Finance guidelines mentioned in the official advertisement.

IIT Delhi Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Candidates will first be shortlisted based on their applications. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. IIT Delhi will communicate the interview date separately to shortlisted candidates through email.

The selected consultant will handle legal responsibilities such as scrutinising petitions, vetting pleadings and agreements, monitoring litigation, analysing court orders and providing legal opinions to different departments of the institute.
