Several IITs and IISc Bangalore have started the MTech admission process for the 2026–27 session ahead of the GATE 2026 result announcement on 19 March 2026. GATE 2026 IIT MTech Admission Registration Begins Before Results

GATE 2026 IIT MTech admission registration has started at several Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science ahead of the GATE 2026 result scheduled on 19 March 2026. With the result date approaching, institutes have opened their admission portals for the 2026–27 academic session. Candidates who appeared for the exam can apply for postgraduate programmes through the respective institute websites.

 

To check the GATE 2026 result, candidates will need their Enrollment ID and password to log in to the GOAPS 2026 portal. After the results are declared, qualified candidates can complete the MTech admission process through the participating institutes and the central counselling system.

Many IITs and IISc Bangalore have announced the timeline for the MTech admission application process. Candidates planning to apply should review the registration schedule and submit applications before the respective deadlines. Documents Required for IIT MTech Admission Through GATE 2026

Applicants must submit their GATE details and upload relevant documents while filling out the application form. Preparing the documents in advance can help avoid delays during registration. Candidates should keep the following documents ready before applying:

  • GATE 2026 scorecard
  • Educational qualification certificates
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Scanned passport-size photograph
  • Scanned signature
  • Identity proof and other required documents

Applicants must follow the guidelines mentioned on the respective institute admission portals while uploading the documents.

 

GATE 2026 COAP Counselling Expected in May

Admission offers from IITs will be processed through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal. Candidates who receive admission offers from multiple institutes must participate in the counselling process through this platform.

 

Based on previous admission cycles, GATE 2026 COAP counselling is expected to begin in the second or third week of May 2026. The counselling process generally takes place in 10 rounds, depending on seat availability and candidate preferences.

 

The GATE 2026 scorecard will be available for download from 27 March 2026, and the score will remain valid for three years for admission purposes. For many IIT programmes, a score range of 700–800 marks is often considered competitive for general category candidates, although the required score may vary depending on the discipline and institute.
