The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 20 is scheduled to be held in December 2025, as announced by the Bar Council of India (BCI). This examination is mandatory for law graduates aspiring to practice law in India. Understanding the exam pattern is crucial for effective preparation.

 

AIBE Exam Overview

  • Conducting Body: Bar Council of India (BCI)
  • Exam Mode: Offline (pen-and-paper based)
  • Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes
  • Total Questions: 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
  • Total Marks: 100 (1 mark per correct answer)

AIBE Marking Scheme

  • Correct Answer: +1 mark
  • Incorrect Answer: 0 marks (No negative marking)
  • Unanswered Questions: 0 marks

This straightforward marking scheme allows candidates to attempt all questions without the risk of negative marking.

 

AIBE Exam Mode and Materials Allowed

The AIBE 20 will be conducted in an offline mode. Candidates are permitted to bring only bare acts (statutory law texts) into the examination hall. Notes, commentaries, or any other materials are strictly prohibited. This change emphasises the importance of understanding the law rather than memorising it.
