The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will close the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 registration window today, February 24, at 6 PM. A total of 933 vacancies are being filled through CSE 2026, including IAS, IPS and IFS posts. The Prelims exam is scheduled for May 24, 2026, and the Main exam will be held on August 21, 2026.

The Union Public Service Commission will close the registration window for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2026 today, 24 February 2026, at 6 PM. Candidates who have not yet completed the application process must submit their forms on the official portals — upsconline.nic.in or upsc.gov.in — before the deadline. A total of 933 vacancies are being filled through the UPSC CSE 2026 recruitment drive, offering opportunities in services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service (IFS), among other Group A and Group B posts.

Candidates are advised to complete registration well before the cutoff time to avoid last-minute technical issues on the UPSC portal.

 

Who Can Apply and Fees Of UPSC CSE 2026

Eligible applicants must hold a graduate degree from a recognised university. The application fee is Rs 100 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, while certain categories such as Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) may be exempt or eligible for relaxed fees. Final fee details and eligibility criteria are available on the official notification .UPSC has also clarified age limits and maximum attempts based on category norms. Typically, General category candidates can attempt the examination up to six times, with additional relaxations for OBC, SC and ST candidates in line with statutory rules.

 

What’s Next After Registration for UPSC CSE?

  • Candidates who successfully register will receive the Prelims admit card approximately one week before the exam date.
  • Aspirants should begin focused preparation for the Preliminary test on 24 May 2026, which consists of objective-type questions.
  • Those who qualify Prelims will be eligible to appear for the Main examination in August 2026
