The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) increased the number of Civil Services Examination vacancies for 2022 from 861 to 1011 after adding Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) posts.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) revised the total number of vacancies for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022 from 861 to 1011 posts after introducing recruitment for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS). The revised vacancy notification was issued shortly after the release of the original UPSC notification in February 2022
The increase in vacancies came as a major development for civil services aspirants preparing for the prestigious examination. With the addition of 150 IRMS Group A posts, the overall intake for various central services, including IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS, saw a substantial rise. The UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the most competitive examinations in India and serves as the gateway for recruitment into multiple administrative and allied services under the Government of India.
UPSC CSE 2022 Vacancy Revised Through Official Notification
Initially, UPSC had notified approximately 861 vacancies for the Civil Services Examination 2022. However, the Department of Personnel and Training later approved the inclusion of IRMS Group A recruitment through the same examination process. Following the decision, UPSC officially revised the total number of vacancies to 1011 posts. Out of the newly added vacancies, a portion was also reserved for candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category.
