The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the release of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2026 notifications, which were earlier scheduled to be published on 14 January 2026. The delay is attributed to administrative reasons, according to the official announcement on the UPSC website.This notification normally contains crucial information such as eligibility criteria, exam pattern, number of vacancies, application fees, and detailed schedules for all stages of the examinations. The announcement also initiates the opening of the online application window on upsconline.nic.in, followed by a deadline for submissions.
UPSC Notification 2026 Delay Explained
The UPSC’s official release stated that the notification of Civil Services Examination 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination 2026, initially planned for 14.01.2026, has been deferred due to internal administrative processes not yet finalised. The Commission did not elaborate on the exact nature of the factors leading to the postponement but confirmed that the notices will be issued “in due course”.Despite the notice delay, UPSC’s 2026 exam calendar published in mid-2025, had listed the Preliminary Examination for 24 May 2026 and the Mains Examination for 21 August 2026, giving aspirants a preparatory timeline. Whether these examination dates will remain unchanged following the postponement is yet to be confirmed officially.
