The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has released the admission schedule for the academic year 2026–27 under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, providing 25 per cent reservation in private schools for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.The process will be conducted entirely online, ensuring transparency and fairness, and aims to give eligible children access to quality education at no cost.
UP RTE 2026–27 Admission Timeline and Phases
The RTE admission process for pre-primary (Nursery/LKG/UKG) and Class 1 will be held in three phases:
- Phase 1: 2 February to 16 February 2026
- Phase 2: 21 February to 7 March 2026
- Phase 3: 12 March to 25 March 2026
This phased schedule is designed to complete admissions systematically and ensure maximum participation.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Requirements
Children eligible for admission must meet age criteria as of 01 April 2026:
- Nursery: 3 to 4 years
- LKG: 4 to 5 years
- UKG: 5 to 6 years
- Class 1: 6 to 7 years
Parents must upload necessary documents during the online application, including a birth certificate, residence certificate, income certificate, caste certificate, and parent’s Aadhaar card where applicable.
Selection Through Online Lottery System
To maintain fairness and transparency, eligible children will be selected through a lottery system conducted online. This system ensures impartial allotment of seats among applicants across various phases of the admission schedule.District Basic Education Officers and Block Education Officers have been instructed to complete the admission process within the prescribed timelines and upload the admission status on the RTE portal.
Fee Exemption and Government Support
Private schools participating in the RTE quota cannot charge fees from admitted children. The state government will reimburse schools as per prescribed norms for each admitted student, ensuring that children from economically weaker sections can access quality education without financial burden.
Objective of the RTE Admission Drive
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh emphasised that the 25 per cent RTE reservation in private schools provides children from deprived backgrounds with equal opportunities for quality education. Education officials will monitor the process to ensure compliance and transparency throughout the admission cycle.Parents and guardians who wish to apply should prepare the necessary documents and complete the online application within the designated phases to benefit from the RTE quota seat allotment for the 2026–27 academic session.
