After a gap of 7 years, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has begun the LT Grade Assistant Teacher recruitment examination 2025 to fill 7466 vacancies in government secondary schools. The first phase of the examination started on December 6, 2025, with PCS-level security arrangements deployed across examination centres due to the massive candidate turnout. A total of 1236238 candidates have registered for the recruitment exam, making it one of the largest teacher recruitment drives in the state in recent years. Officials confirmed that the security protocol has been upgraded to prevent any form of malpractice and to ensure a transparent examination process.
LT Grade Exam Schedule 2025 and Shift Timings
The LT Grade examination is being conducted in multiple phases across December 2025 and January 2026. As per the commission, exams for select subjects are scheduled on December 6, 7 and 21, while remaining subject papers will be held from January 2026 onwards. Before looking at the subject-wise schedule, it is important to note that the exam is being conducted in 2 shifts per day, with tight supervision, biometric verification, and controlled distribution of sealed question papers at every centre.
In Prayagraj alone, 17 examination centres have been designated for the first phase of the exam.
Five-Tier Security System Implemented by UPPSC
To manage the large-scale examination securely, UPPSC has introduced a five-tier packaging system for question papers and answer sheets. A senior official stated that the materials are sealed inside a shield box, followed by sealed outer packing, seal-core layering, poly packs of 24 booklets, and an additional individual poly pack for each booklet. The confidential trunk containing the sealed papers is opened exactly 45 minutes before the exam under the supervision of the sector magistrate, static magistrate, and centre administrator. An official opening certificate is prepared on-site with full details of the officers present. Further, 15 minutes before the exam, biometric and Aadhaar verification of candidates is completed. The final seal is broken only 10 minutes before the exam begins, ensuring no premature access to question papers.
Record Participation Compared to Previous Recruitment
Officials noted that the last LT Grade recruitment exam was held in 2018, when 763317 candidates had applied for 10768 posts. The current cycle has seen a sharp rise in participation despite a lower number of vacancies, reflecting the growing competition in government teaching jobs. The Prayagraj District Inspector of Schools confirmed that all logistical and administrative preparations for the first phase were completed well in advance and that strict instructions have been issued to all centre officials for zero tolerance toward any irregularity. The LT Grade examination is a key recruitment pathway for subject teachers in government secondary schools, and the outcome of this recruitment drive will significantly influence staffing across schools in the state.
