Union Minister Launches NIELIT Digital University, Five New Centres

The Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw, officially launched the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) in New Delhi. The university will offer industry-focused courses in trending technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Semiconductors.

NIELIT Digital University: Focus and Courses

The Digital University is designed to provide accessible online education to students, including those from remote areas and villages. The platform will host a range of training programs and certification courses that focus on industry-relevant skills, helping students integrate into the growing digital economy. During the launch, NIELIT signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with industry partners including Microsoft, Zscaler, CCRYN, Dixon Tech, and Future Crime to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.

Five New NIELIT Centres Across India

In addition to the Digital University, five new NIELIT centres were inaugurated to expand digital learning opportunities across the country. The centres have been set up in:

  • Muzaffarpur, Bihar
  • Balasore, Odisha
  • Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh
  • Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu
  • Lunglei, Mizoram

These centres aim to provide hands-on training and digital skills education to students and professionals in their respective regions.

Minister’s Vision for Digital Education

Mr Vaishnaw emphasised the government’s broader goal, stating, “The thrust of the NIELIT Digital University will be providing the education required by the industry. It is our Prime Minister's vision to bring quality education to every corner of every village in the country.” The launch aligns with the government’s initiative to make education more inclusive, leveraging technology to provide equal learning opportunities to rural and urban students and prepare them for careers in emerging digital sectors.
