Telangana Schools Closed on Dec 16–17 Due to VRO Exams, Check Details

Schools across Telangana will remain closed on December 16 and December 17, 2025, as several campuses have been designated as exam centres for Village Revenue Officer (VRO) recruitment examinations. The decision has been communicated to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations and maintain security protocols. The closure primarily affects government and aided schools used for exam-related arrangements. Education officials clarified that the temporary shutdown is an administrative measure linked to examination logistics. Regular academic activities are expected to resume after the exam schedule concludes, subject to local instructions.

Telangana School Holidays for VRO Exams 2025

The Telangana Education Department has permitted district authorities to declare holidays where school infrastructure is required for VRO exams. This includes classrooms, halls, and staff deployment for invigilation and coordination. The closure applies to select districts and institutions rather than a blanket statewide shutdown. Private unaided schools not notified as exam centres may continue classes based on management decisions and local advisories.

District-Wise Impact of Telangana School Closures

Before listing the affected institutions and categories, it is important to understand that the impact varies by district. Local education offices assessed availability of alternative venues and student safety before confirming closures. Parents and students were advised to rely on school-level circulars for confirmation.

• Government schools used as VRO exam centres
• Aided schools requisitioned for examination duty
• Schools where teaching staff are assigned exam responsibilities

Officials noted that schools not involved in exam arrangements may function normally, depending on district-level decisions.

Why Schools Are Used as VRO Exam Centres?

School buildings are often selected as exam venues due to their accessibility, capacity, and existing infrastructure. For the VRO recruitment process, authorities require multiple centres to accommodate candidates across regions. To ensure fairness and smooth operations, classrooms are repurposed for seating plans, surveillance setup, and administrative control rooms. As a result, regular classes are suspended to avoid overlap and ensure exam integrity.

Instructions for Students, Parents, and Teachers

Before the resumption of classes, schools are expected to sanitize premises and restore regular timetables. Parents are advised to monitor official school communication channels for reopening dates and any changes to assessments or assignments. Teachers assigned to examination duties must report as per district instructions. Students should use the break to revise coursework and follow guidance issued by their respective schools.
