Teachers' professional skills key to quality education, KUET VC Prof. Dr. Md. Maksud Helali said during a workshop held at the university. The event focused on improving academic standards through structured training and Outcome-Based Education methods. The workshop was conducted at the KUET administrative building’s conference room.

 

KUET Workshop on CO-PO Attainment and Course Profile Preparation

The workshop, titled “Course Profile Preparation and Course Outcome-Program Outcome (CO-PO) Attainment Calculation,” was organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). It forms part of KUET’s ongoing effort to strengthen the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and raise the quality of higher studies.

 

Prof. Dr. Helali, attending as chief guest, said professional development is essential for improving teaching standards. He emphasised that there is “no alternative to capacity-building initiatives”, noting that the knowledge gained must be applied in preparing accurate course profiles and ensuring transparency in attainment calculations.

 

He added that effective use of these skills would help enhance KUET’s teaching quality and support long-term academic improvement.

 

KUET Higher Education Quality Initiative 2025: Key Contributors

The technical sessions were conducted by Prof. Dr. Monir Hossain, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Awlad Hossain of the same department.

 

Prof. Dr. Md. Hasanuzzaman, Director of IQAC, presided over the event and guided discussions on curriculum design and evaluation practices.

 

The sessions offered hands-on training to faculty members and officials from the ECE Department. Participants worked on preparing course profiles, understanding CO-PO mapping, and applying assessment methods aligned with OBE requirements.

The training highlighted the importance of designing clear learning outcomes and ensuring accurate attainment calculations. These steps, according to the organisers, are crucial for the successful implementation of OBE across departments.
