The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a clarification regarding the ongoing Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2025, following speculation on social media about widespread cancellations. The Commission confirmed that the examination is being conducted smoothly at centres across India, with only a small number of shifts affected.
SSC’s Official Statement
According to the official statement issued by the Personnel Ministry, the examination process has remained largely uninterrupted. The clarification was released after reports circulated online about large-scale cancellations. “The recruitment test is continuing as scheduled across the country, with only a small number of shifts affected,” the SSC said, assuring candidates that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.
SSC CGL 2025 Exam Schedule
The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2025 began on September 12 and will continue until September 26. The test is being held in three shifts per day across 227 venues in 129 cities nationwide. More than 28 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the examination this year, making it one of the largest recruitment drives for central government jobs.
Participation and Shift Data
As of now, 3,01,722 candidates have successfully completed their examinations without any disruption. Out of a total of 2,435 planned shifts, only 25 shifts were cancelled due to technical and logistical challenges at a few centres. The SSC confirmed that 7,705 affected candidates have already been allotted new dates to appear for the test.

Smooth Conduct on September 15
SSC officials also clarified that the exam scheduled on September 15 was conducted without any cancellations. All centres operated normally, and candidates faced no disruptions in completing their papers.
Assurance to Candidates
The Commission reiterated that candidates should not rely on unverified reports circulating online. Officials emphasised that the exam process is on track, and every affected candidate has already been accommodated through rescheduling. “Only a small number of shifts have been affected, and all impacted candidates have been provided alternate dates,” the SSC stated.
