Student Reactions on Social Media
Many candidates expressed frustration over the alleged mismanagement:
- One user wrote: “Still no notice or confirmation on the cancellation of SSC CGL Tier 1 shift 1. Reporting time was 7:30 am to 8:30 am, and exam time was from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. It’s already 10:00 but no update.”
- Another user posted: “In the very first shift of SSC CGL exam, so many issues have surfaced. Transparency and fair examination feel like a joke. Despite repeated issues, there is zero accountability.”
SSC’s Response and Measures
SSC has faced controversies in recent months, with protests held in Delhi during July and August over exam-related concerns. After those events, SSC Chairman assured transparency and fair conduct of the CGL exam. This year, for the first time, the exam is being conducted on laptops at select centres such as Kolkata. The commission believes this model could allow future exams to be conducted in a single shift, saving time and streamlining processes. SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan has appealed to students not to panic in case of technical issues. He assured that:
- Systems will be replaced immediately if technical problems occur.
- SSC representatives will be present at all centres to resolve issues on the spot.
- A special feedback portal has been launched where students can report concerns directly.
