Poor Air Quality in Noida & Ghaziabad: School Mode Changed

The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued new directives in response to deteriorating air quality across the National Capital Region (NCR). Schools in Noida and Ghaziabad have shifted to online classes for Pre-Nursery to Class V, while Classes VI to IX and XI will follow a hybrid model combining online and offline lessons wherever feasible.

Air Quality Measures in Schools

  • Pre-Nursery to Class V: Fully online until further notice.
  • Classes VI–IX and XI: Hybrid mode; a mix of in-person and online teaching.
  • Outdoor Activities: Strictly avoided to limit exposure to hazardous air.

These directions apply to all government, government-aided, and private schools across Noida and Ghaziabad. Schools are required to take all necessary precautions for students attending on-campus classes.

Reason for the Shift

The decision follows the National Capital Region reaching ‘severe’ air quality levels, triggering Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-IV). Authorities aim to protect children’s health by reducing exposure to pollution during peak hazardous conditions. Parents and students are advised to monitor school notifications regularly and adhere to safety guidelines while attending hybrid sessions. This move reflects the government’s continued efforts to safeguard public health in the face of worsening air pollution in the NCR region.
