NTA NEET UG 2026 Centre Change Row Explained, Abu Dhabi Case Clarified

The National Testing Agency has issued a detailed clarification regarding NEET UG 2026 examination centre allotment after concerns emerged over a candidate being assigned an overseas centre in Abu Dhabi despite being from Nagpur. The agency has explained the correction process, login activity and final resolution provided before the examination scheduled on June 21, 2026.

NTA NEET UG 2026 Exam City Correction Window Reopened After Rescheduling

Following the rescheduling of NEET UG 2026 to June 21, 2026, the National Testing Agency reopened the examination city correction window to assist candidates in updating their preferred exam centres. The move was introduced to ensure candidates could choose convenient locations after changes in examination scheduling. According to official information, approximately 3.2 lakh candidates utilised the correction facility during this period. The agency stated that more than 99.5% of candidates were successfully allotted their preferred examination cities through this process, highlighting the scale and efficiency of the correction mechanism.

NEET UG 2026 Centre Allotment Process and Candidate Login Activity

NTA clarified that the examination city allotment process is entirely system-driven and linked to individual candidate login credentials. In the specific case involving Abu Dhabi and Nagpur, the agency observed that the exam city change was carried out using the candidate’s own registered login during the active correction window. The system recorded a consistent single-user access pattern, indicating that the change request originated from the candidate side during the permitted modification period. The agency further confirmed that candidates were allowed to preview and confirm their choices multiple times before final submission.

Abu Dhabi Exam Centre Case in NEET UG 2026 Explained by NTA

Addressing the specific concern, NTA stated that the candidate had selected Abu Dhabi as the examination city during the correction window. The system recorded that the choice was reviewed and confirmed on multiple occasions before final submission. However, shortly before the examination schedule, an informal request was received on the evening of June 19, 2026, seeking a change of centre from Abu Dhabi to Nagpur. Considering the urgency, NTA personnel immediately initiated corrective action and also contacted the candidate’s father the same evening to complete the formal requirements for the requested modification. The agency emphasised that despite procedural constraints, it acted swiftly to support the candidate’s request.

NEET UG 2026 Centre Change Request Handled Within Limited Time Frame

NTA highlighted that the request for changing the exam centre was received just 48 hours before the scheduled examination date. Despite the limited time window, the authorities attempted immediate resolution to ensure that the candidate would not face any inconvenience in appearing for the examination. Officials confirmed that administrative efforts were undertaken on a priority basis to process the request in accordance with available guidelines. This intervention was part of the broader approach adopted by the agency to prevent candidates from missing the examination due to logistical concerns.
