NTA Issues NEET UG 2026 Payment Advisory to Avoid Failed Transaction Issues

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a short tutorial video to assist NEET UG 2026 aspirants facing failed payment issues during online application. The advisory, shared via NTA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, outlines safe steps to prevent duplicate charges and ease candidate concerns.

Steps to Follow in Case of Failed Payments

In the 43-second video, NTA instructs candidates to:

  • Avoid repeated payment attempts immediately if the transaction fails.
  • Wait for some time, as banks may take a while to update transaction status.
  • Log out and re-login to the portal after a short interval.
  • Use the payment status verification tool provided on the portal to confirm the transaction.

The agency emphasises that making multiple attempts without verifying payment may lead to double charges, and refunds in such cases could take time, causing unnecessary stress to candidates.

Context and Importance of the Advisory

NEET UG, one of India’s largest entrance exams, is taken by over 20 lakh medical aspirants annually for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related undergraduate courses. Technical delays during peak registration periods in January–February can affect thousands of applicants simultaneously, making this advisory timely and relevant.

Technical Issues and Public Reactions

Over the years, NTA has faced scrutiny for technical and evaluation issues, including JEE Main result controversies in 2024 and alleged errors in UGC NET answer keys. While the payment advisory is aimed at helping students, social media responses highlight broader concerns about system transparency, timely grievance redressal, and technical efficiency across NTA examinations.

Candidate Guidance

As NEET UG 2026 registrations proceed, aspirants are advised to follow the official instructions carefully, avoid multiple unverified payment attempts, and rely solely on verified NTA sources to complete their application process smoothly.
