The NIFT 2026 entrance exam will be conducted on February 8 for undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes. Candidates are advised to focus on revision, time management and exam-day readiness instead of heavy studying.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) 2026 entrance exam will be conducted on February 8, 2026, for admission to B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.M and M.F.Tech programmes. With the exam just a day away, candidates are advised to follow a calm and focused last-minute preparation strategy rather than attempting new topics. The NIFT Stage 1 exam will be held across 102 cities in two shifts. As per the official schedule, the General Ability Test (GAT) will be conducted in computer-based mode from 10 AM, while the Creative Ability Test (CAT) will take place in paper-based mode from 3 PM.
NIFT 2026 Exam Date and Shift Timings
Candidates must check their admit cards carefully for exact reporting times and centre instructions. Reaching the exam centre late can increase stress and may lead to disqualification.
Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre 45–60 minutes early to avoid last-minute panic.
What to Do in the Final 24 Hours?
The last day before the exam should focus on revision and readiness, not intensive study.
- Revise short notes, formulas and key concepts
- Practice a few familiar creative questions
- Arrange admit card, ID proof and stationery in advance
- Get at least 7–8 hours of sleep
- Eat light and stay hydrated
Adequate rest helps improve memory retention and concentration on exam day.
Section-Wise Focus Areas for Quick Revision
Candidates can prioritise high-scoring and familiar topics during revision.
Accuracy is more important than speed, especially in design-based questions.
Creative Ability Test: Key Tips
The CAT section evaluates idea clarity and visual communication, not artistic perfection. Candidates should:
- Plan the concept before drawing
- Keep layouts clean and uncluttered
- Use colours selectively
- Focus on originality and storytelling
Simple ideas executed neatly often score better than complex designs.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Studying completely new topics
- Comparing performance with others
- Panicking after seeing tough questions
- Spending too much time on one question
- Excessive guesswork
A calm approach, proper planning and confidence can significantly improve performance in the NIFT 2026 entrance exam. Candidates should trust their preparation and focus on clear execution during the exam.
