NIFT 2027 Registration Regular Fee Deadline on November 16; Apply at exams.nta.nic.in/niftee

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the NIFT 2027 registration window with the regular application fee on November 16, 2026. Candidates who miss this deadline can still apply till November 21, 2026 by paying a late fee of Rs 5,000, in addition to the applicable application fee, as per the official NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin.

Online registration for the NIFT Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2027 began on October 16, 2026 at exams.nta.nic.in/niftee. The entrance exam is scheduled for January 10, 2027, and the admit card will be available for download from January 4, 2027. The General Ability Test (GAT) will be held in computer-based mode, while the Creative Ability Test (CAT) will be a pen-and-paper test.

NIFTEE 2027 is conducted for admission to B.Des, B.FTech, M.Des, MFM and M.FTech programmes across NIFT's 20 campuses. NIFT was set up in 1986 and became a statutory institute through an Act of Parliament in 2006.

NIFT 2027 Important Dates

The schedule below is for regular UG and PG programmes, as listed in the official NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin. NTA has marked these dates as tentative.

NIFT Application Fee 2027

The fee depends on category and on whether a candidate applies for one programme or two (B.FTech + B.Des, or MFM + M.Des) through a single form. Candidates applying between November 17 and 21 must pay Rs 5,000 extra.

The fee can be paid via net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI through Canara Bank or Union Bank of India gateways. UPI carries no service charge on either gateway; bank charges and GST, where applicable, are borne by the candidate.

NIFT 2027 Exam Timings, Pattern and Weightage

On January 10, 2027, GAT will be held in the morning shift and CAT in the afternoon shift. Candidates must report to the centre two hours before the exam begins.

The final merit for B.Des is based on GAT (30%), CAT (50%) and the Situation Test (20%). For B.FTech, GAT Section A carries 30% and Section B carries 70%. For PG programmes, the Personal Interview carries 30% weightage. Calculators are not allowed in the GAT.

NIFT 2027 Eligibility and Age Limit

For B.Des and B.FTech, candidates must be less than 24 years of age as on August 1, 2027. SC, ST, PwD and PwBD candidates get a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit. There is no age limit for M.Des, MFM, M.FTech and Ph.D.

How to Apply for NIFT 2027

Registration is done through MeriPehchaan, the Government of India's single sign-on platform. Candidates can follow these steps:

1. Visit exams.nta.nic.in/niftee and register through MeriPehchaan using a valid mobile number and email ID.
2. Note the system-generated Application Number and create a password.
3. Log in, fill in personal and academic details, choose programmes and select four exam cities.
4. Capture a live photograph and upload the scanned photograph, signature and certificates (if applicable).
5. Pay the application fee through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.
6. Download and save the Confirmation Page.
