The National Testing Agency has welcomed temporary restrictions on Telegram in India ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. The agency said the action aims to curb paper leak rumours, online fraud, and misinformation targeting medical aspirants.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Telegram Ban Till June 22, NTA Confirms,cut-off

NEET UG 2026 re-examination preparations have entered the final phase as the National Testing Agency (NTA) welcomed the Government's decision to temporarily restrict access to Telegram in India ahead of the examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. The examination authority stated that the move has been taken to prevent the spread of fake paper leak claims, cyber fraud, and misinformation campaigns targeting candidates appearing for the medical entrance test. According to the latest NTA notification, access to Telegram in India will remain restricted until June 22, 2026, while a separate direction requires the platform to disable the editing of already-posted messages until June 30, 2026. The agency said these measures are intended to protect the integrity of the examination process and ensure a fair environment for candidates.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination and Telegram Restriction Explained

The National Testing Agency clarified that the restriction on Telegram has been implemented for a limited period under provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The decision follows concerns regarding the organized use of Telegram channels and groups by individuals allegedly attempting to deceive candidates through fake claims of access to the RE-NEET 2026 re-examination question paper. Officials stated that several public channels had been promoting alleged paper leaks and demanding money from candidates and their families in exchange for examination material. The agency reiterated that no examination paper exists outside the secure examination chain and warned students against believing such claims. The restriction has been designed specifically around the examination window and will remain in place only through the immediate post-examination period.

NTA Notification Highlights Action Against NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Rumours

The latest NTA notification emphasized that the decision was taken after multiple rounds of enforcement efforts against examination-related misinformation. Authorities noted that channel-level removals and takedown requests had been carried out over several weeks, but fraudulent groups continued to emerge through new channels and accounts. The agency explained that the current restrictions represent a targeted response aimed at limiting the circulation of false information during a critical period for medical aspirants. According to NTA, candidates should rely only on official examination notifications and avoid social media messages claiming access to question papers, guaranteed ranks, or admission assistance.

NEET UG 2026 Telegram Message Editing Feature Disabled Until June 30

One of the key measures announced involves the temporary disabling of Telegram's message-editing functionality for already-posted messages in India until June 30, 2026. NTA stated that investigators had identified instances in which administrators modified older messages after examinations had already concluded. In some cases, previously harmless messages were allegedly edited to include examination papers after the event and then circulated as supposed evidence of prior leaks. The agency said the temporary suspension of the editing feature is intended to prevent the creation of fabricated paper leak evidence during the period immediately following the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. Officials believe the measure will significantly reduce the ability of misinformation networks to manipulate examination-related narratives on social media platforms.

I4C, MeitY and State Agencies Intensify Monitoring Before NEET UG 2026

The National Testing Agency credited the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs for leading continuous monitoring and enforcement efforts against examination fraud. According to the agency, I4C has coordinated with state law-enforcement authorities and central government departments to identify and remove channels, groups, and automated accounts promoting fake paper leak claims. Authorities from Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and other states have reportedly participated in investigations linked to examination-related cyber fraud. These efforts have focused on identifying networks attempting to exploit students through false promises of examination material and guaranteed scores. The agency said ongoing intelligence sharing among various government departments has played an important role in limiting the spread of misinformation ahead of the examination.

NEET UG 2026 Admit Card and Official Examination Updates

As the NEET UG 2026 re-examination approaches, NTA has advised candidates to continue following only official communication channels for examination-related information. Candidates should verify details related to the NEET UG admit card, examination centre allocation, reporting time, and examination instructions exclusively through official notifications. The agency warned that social media platforms often become a source of misleading information during major examinations. Students have been encouraged to keep their admit cards, identity documents, and examination credentials ready well before the scheduled test date.

NEET UG 2026 Result Date, Cut-Off and Counselling Registration

Following the successful completion of the examination on June 21, 2026, attention will shift to the RE- NEET Result 2026 date, answer key publication, merit list preparation, and NEET UG counselling registration process. Medical aspirants seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate healthcare programs will be required to participate in centralized and state-level counselling procedures based on their examination performance. The agency stated that official announcements regarding the result, scorecards, cut-off marks, counselling schedules, and admission procedures will be published only through authorized channels. Candidates have been advised not to rely on speculative information circulating on social media or third-party websites.

NTA Advises Candidates to Report NEET UG 2026 Examination Fraud Immediately

The National Testing Agency has urged students and parents to report any suspicious claims involving examination papers, guaranteed scores, rank manipulation, or admission promises. Authorities emphasized that fraudsters frequently attempt to exploit examination anxiety by offering fake services and fabricated examination material. Such activities not only cause financial losses but may also expose candidates to legal consequences. Candidates encountering suspicious messages or fraudulent solicitations have been advised to contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline or use official cybercrime reporting mechanisms for immediate assistance.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination to Be Conducted as Scheduled

The National Testing Agency has reiterated that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted as scheduled on June 21, 2026. Officials emphasized that the examination's security remains intact and that the temporary Telegram restriction has been introduced specifically to strengthen the examination environment. The agency said the coordinated efforts of cybersecurity agencies, law-enforcement authorities, and government departments are intended to safeguard the interests of candidates and maintain confidence in the medical admission process. With enhanced monitoring mechanisms, temporary platform restrictions, and intensified enforcement actions now in place, authorities expect the examination to proceed in a secure and transparent manner. Candidates have been advised to focus on their preparation, ignore unverified content, and follow only official notifications regarding the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, NEET Result 2026 date, NEET UG counselling registration, and admission procedures.
